As well as offering assistance and advice with SDS, Y.O.U. offers additional services with regards to training support workers.

This type of service can be combined with advice on managing your SDS services. The services Y.O.U can offer in relation to the staff training include training in the following areas:

•  Staff attitudes and practices

•  Recording daily notes

•  Support Planning

Additionally Y.O.U. offers Advocacy/Consultation services either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Living with a disability myself and hearing of my parents' experiences following my diagnosis, I am keen to share my experiences with parents and carers as well as service users who may find their diagnosis daunting.

To date I have faced varying experiences in employment and education as well as in life in general and I want to share my experiences to help others. I also know how important it is as a service user or parent or carer to have your feelings, points of view and opinions heard regarding factors/issues/problems that impact on your daily living. If you feel your voice is not being heard Y.O.U. can assist with this.

Consultancy Services

The consultancy services offered by Y.O.U. are aimed at anyone who feel they would benefit from consulting someone who can offer a first-hand perspective of similar experiences.

You may be a parent or carer who is caring for a disabled individual and are seeking advice on the issues that can be faced when having a disability. For example, this could be when   going through the education system.

Or maybe you are a disabled individual who is facing different challenges to their peers and you feel that consulting others who have faced similar challenges would help.

Even if you just feel that a chance to have a chat and share knowledge and experiences would be beneficial,  Y.O.U is the service for you!
